This rule has added to a lot of confusion. To clarify this rule, it simply means that if you declare your Martial Status as “Married”, then Passport Authorities would not request you to provide a Marriage Certificate for the issuance of a Passport. This is because a Passport is essentially a travel document and is not proof of marriage.
